Volga German families moved from the Volga River Valley to the Don River Valley in search of additional farm land. They began settling in the area of Rosenfeld in 1924.
The ethnic Germans in Rosental were deported to Siberia and Kazakhstan in 1941. This area was occupied by the Nazi Army from June 1942 to January 1943.
