Johann Friedrich Axt, a physician (Arzt), and his wife Maria Anna settled in the Volga German colony of Bauer on 20 July 1766.

They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 23 along with his stepsons, Johann Heinrich & Johann Konrad Schreimann.

The 1767 census records that Johann Friedrich Axt came from the German village of Schleiz in Sachsen (Saxony).
