In 1788, Jakob Bertsch and his family moved from Louis to Mariental.

The widow of Jakob Bertsch and her children are recorded on the 1798 census of Mariental in Household No. Mt18.

The 1767 census records that Philipp Bertsch came from Luxembourg.
