Discussion & Documentation:

Johann Jacob Best (yes, it is spelled "Best" in the indexes), son of Hasnss Jacob & Maria Barbara Best, was born 18 May 1724 in Ochsenbach, Württemberg. He married Maria Magdalena Henne, daughter of Johann Henne, on 5 November 1748 in Ochsenbach. Anna Christina (she was baptised Christina Barbara) was born 12 December 1760 in Ochsenbach.

Johann Betz, a farmer, his wife Magdalena, and children (Christina, age 5; Julianna, age 1½) arrived from Rewal at the port of Oranienbaum on 31 May 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.

They settled in the colony of Frank in 1767.  They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 20.

The children listed for them in the indexes for Ochsenbach do not match the names of the children who arrived in Russia, so further research is necessary to confirm that this is the correct family.
