Jakob Bischoff and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Seelmann on 16 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 35.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Jakob Bischoff is a farmer while the 1767 census records that he was a painter (Lackierer).

The 1767 census records that Jakob Bischoff came from the village of Rorschach in Switzerland.
