Nikolaus Brescher (some documents record surname as Pröscher) immigrated to Russia from the German village of Eckardroth. He arrived at the port of Oranienbaum from Lübeck on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Novaya Dvinka under the command of Lieutenant Perepechin. He settled in the Volga German colony of Köhler on 21 August 1767 where he and his wife are recorded on the 1767 Census in Household No. 59.
