Georg Brunner, a farmer, and his wife Anna Margaretha settled in the Volga German colony of Messer on 7 July 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 16 along with their 3-week-old son Georg Konrad.

In 1790, Georg Brunner and his family moved from Messer to Franzosen.

The 1767 census records that Georg Brunner came from the German district of Odenwald.
