Lorenz Eckel, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Maria Magdalena settled in the Volga German colony of Graf on 10 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 31.
The 1767 census records that Lorenz Eckel came from the German village of Regensburg.
