Johann[es] Erbes, a farmer, and his wife Engel arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Bettinger on 3 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 26.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Erbes came from the German region of Hessen. The 1767 census records that Johannes Erbes came from the German village of Lehn [?].
