Christoph Franz, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Nikolaus Peter Pink.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Cäsarsfeld on 3 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 14.

The 1798 census of Boisroux records son Gottlieb Franz living in Household No. Bx41.

The 1767 census records that Christian [sic] Franz came from the German village of Mildenstein in the region of Sachsen (Saxony).
