Matthias Heinz, stepson of Christoph Schuller, settled in the Volga German colony of Chasselois on 2 August 1766. He is recorded there (age 14) on the 1767 census in Household No. 15 along with his mother Anna Katharina and stepfather Christoph Schuller. A note indicates that his father had died in Germany.
Following the destruction of Chasselois, Matthias Heinz relocated to the colony of Mariental.
