Jakob Kehl, a farmer, and his wife Magdalena Fuhr are recorded on the 1767 census of Hildmann in household No. 10. They had settled there on 14 May 1767.

The 1767 census records that Jakob Kehl came from the German village of Steinheim.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Kehl family among the Volga German colonies.
