Gottfried Krebst and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Nikolaus Peter Pink.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Kaneau on 3 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 47 along with a note that they resettled to the colony of Basel in 1768.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Gottfried Krebst was a farmer from the German region of Dessau. The 1767 census records that he was a baker (Bäcker) from the German village of Krina.
