Johann Adam Kling and his family immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) in 1760. Their son, Johann Adam, was born there on 11 November 1760.

In 1764, they joined the migration to Russia.  They settled in the Volga German colony of Beideck where they are recorded on the 1775 census in Household No. 30.
