Johann Kuhn, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Anna Margaretha, and their children (Heinrich, age 12; Peter, age 7; Margaretha, age 9; Margaretha (again), age 3) settled in the Volga German colony of Herzog on 14 July 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 32.

The 1767 census records that Johann Kuhn came from the German village of Ebernburg.
