Michael Lahnert, a farmer, and his wife Julianna settled in the Volga German colony of Yagodnaya Polyana on 16 September 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 42 along with Julianna's brothers Nikolaus Hergert (age 17) and his brother Johann Kaspar Hergert (age 6).

The 1767 census records that Michael Lahnert came from the German region of Erbach.
