Joseph Leipfried, a miller (Müller), and his wife Maria are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Beauregard (No. 25). They are next recorded on the 1798 census of Wittmann in Household No. Wm23.

The 1767 census records that Joseph Leipfried came from the German village of Eichenbühl.
