Nikolaus Nungesser, a miller (Müller), and his wife Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Sewald on 20 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 10.

In 1795, Johannes Nungesser moved from Sewald to Seelmann. He is recorded on the 1798 census of Seelmann in Household No. Sm07. He is recorded on the 1834 census of Dehler in Household No. 14.

The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Nungesser came from the German village of Großheim in the Mainz region.
