Discussion & Documentation:

Daniel Schlitter, a single miller (Müller), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard the snow-brig Der Merkur under the command of Skipper Johann Heinrich Abelmann.

He married Maria Anna Knorr, the widow of Andreas Knorr, and they settled in the Volga German colony of Urbach on 13 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 25.

The 1767 census records that Daniel Schlitter came from the German region of Anhalt-Köthen.
