Hans Michael Schorg, a farmer, and his wife immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein), arriving in Flensburg on 30 January 1762.

They deserted the Danish colonies on 25 May 1765 and joined the migration to Russia. Johann Michael Schorg and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Reinwald on 14 July 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 44.

The 1767 census records that Johann Michael Schorg came from the German village of Schleiz in Sachsen (Saxony).
