Mattias Trippel, a beer brewer (Bierbrauer), his wife Anna Elisabeth Schmidt, and children (Johann Friedrich, age 13; Johannes, age 10; Elisabeth, age 6; Anna Katharina, age 9-months) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 25. They had settled there on 27 August 1766.

The 1767 census records that Mattias Trippel came from the German village of Nieder-Eschbach in the Hanau region.
