Karl August von Biberstein, a single Prussian Officer (preußischer Offizier), is recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 49 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Biberstein in 1768. It is after him that the colony of Biberstein took its name.
The 1767 census records that Karl August von Biberstein came from the German region of Zens.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
