Melchior Wahl, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Anna Margaretha settled in the Volga German colony of Krasnoyar on 20 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 91.

Melchior Wahl  and his wife are recorded on the 1798 census of Krasnoyar in Household No. Ks110 along with a note that he was serving as the schoolmaster in the colony of Schulz.

Melchior Wahl is recorded on the 1811 census of Krasnoyar in Household No. 108 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Näb [year not recorded].

The 1767 census records that Melchior Wahl came from the German village of Alsfeld in the Darmstadt region.
