Wilhelm Walter, a farmer, and his wife Maria Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Rosenheim on 15 March 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 41.

The 1767 census records that Wilhelm Walter came from the village of Hollabrunn in Austria.
