Discussion & Documentation:

Nikolaus Wesch, a single cobbler (Schuhmacher), settled in the Volga German colony of Stephan on 24 August 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 36 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Shcherbakovka in 1768.

Nikolaus Wesch from Stephan is recorded on the 1798 census of Shcherbakovka in Household No. Sv40.

The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Wesch came from the German village of Quedlinburg.

[Sometimes the descendants of this family and those of the Weiss family have been conflated, but they are two separate families.]
