Christian Winter, a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and son August (age 1½) are recorded on the 1767 census of Boisroux in Household No. 39. They had settled there on 7 June 1767.

The 1767 census records that Christian Winter came from the German village of Kosswig in the Brandenburg region.
