Alexanderkron was founded in 1907 (some sources record 1908) by Mennonite colonists from the Kherson and Tauride Provinces and from Sevastopol. Its Russian name is Kussak.

Following the 1941 Deportation Decree, Volga Germans were settled in this village as well.
