Sören Christiansen, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family, including stepson Georg Wilhelm (surname not recorded) settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer on 6 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 20.
The 1767 census records that Sören Christiansen came from the Danish town of Copenhagen.
