Johann Wendel Daniel, son of Heinrich Dieter Daniel & Anna Salome Spalt, was born on 5 February 1720 in Groß-Bieberau, 15 kilometers southwest of Darmstadt. He was baptized on the same day in the Groß-Bieberau Evangelical Church. On 20 April 1756 in Wembach, he married Anna Margaretha Mentzer, daughter of Johann Peter Mentzer & Catharina Elisabetha Volck. Anna Margaretha Mentzer had been born 25 January 1734 in Frankenhausen.

The births of 2 sons are recorded in the parish register of Wembach: (1) Georg Caspar, born 19 April 1757, died 24 June 1757; and (2) Johannes Daniel, born 16 December 1758, died 23 March 1759.

They immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) departing from Altona, Duchy of Holstein, on 17 September 1760 and arriving in the city of Fridericia on 27 September 1760.

After 1763 Johann Wendel Daniel and his wife immigrated to Russia, settling in the Volga German colony of Schilling.

The 1775 census of Schilling records the Daniel family in Household No. 54.

By the time of the 1798 census of Schilling, Johann Wendel Daniel's widow had remarried to Heinrich Schadt. They are recorded there in Household No. Sg37, living with her daughter Johanna. Sons Johann Philipp & Georg Konrad are registered in Household No. Sg55.
