Franz Dreiling, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 42.

In 1798, Johannes Dreiling from Louis is recorded in Herzog living in Household No. Hr11.  Also, in 1798, Michael Dreiling from Herzog is recorded in Rohleder in Household No. Rl13.

The 1767 census records that Franz Dreiling came from the German village of Karlstadt in the region of Würzburg.
