Georg Merkel and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Balzer in Household No. Bz103.

The death of Georg Merkel in 1828 is recorded on the 1834 census of Balzer in Household No. 138.

The 1767 census records that Georg Merkel came from Switzerland.
