Stürtz (Stephan)
Johann[es] Stürtz, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and children (Simon, age 19; Anna Katharina, age 16; Anna Elisabeth, age 12; Elisabeth Katharina, age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 August 1766 aboard the ship Apollo under the command of Skipper Detlov Merberg.
Johannes Stürtz, his wife Anna Catrina, and children (Johann Simon, age 19; Anna Catrina, ge 16; Anna Elisabeth, age 12; Elisabeth Catarina, age 3) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that mother Anna Catrina died en route.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Stephan on 24 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 7.
Johann Georg Stürtz, son of the deceased Konrad Stürtz, relocated to the colony of Dobrinka before 1834.
Johannes Stürtz from Stephan and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Gnadentau.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Stürtz came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that Johannes Stürtz came from the German village of Wohnfeld.
